Pool Cover Installation Guide

1) Roll out your pool cover, bubbles down

2) Try to remove the pockets of air from under the cover. The cover should lie flat on the water (as much as possible). One method to remove the air from under the pool cover is to use your pool scoop to push the pockets of air towards the edge of the cover.

3) With a sharp pair of ordinary household scissors, and using your pool shape as a guide, cut the pool cover 70mm - 80mm larger than the shape of your pool. It is best to have an extra person to hold the cover in position, whilst the cutter moves around the cover.

4) Depending on your personal preference. you may wish to cut the cover back to the waterline, if this is what you itend on doing, be very careful not to cut the pool cover too short. A gradual approach is best - cut short distances only, then stand back and make a reference as to how the cover sits on the pool and how your cut is progressing in relation to where your next cut will go. It may be best to make 2-3 circuits around the pool/cover taking small increments of pool cover off at a time (eg. 5mm - 10mm), rather than trying to make the finish cut first.

Nb: A vast majority of pool covers are cut slightly long so they curl marginally up the walls of the pool. This is a personal preference. Pool covers are also know to shrink a small amount in the first couple of weeks they are on the pool. If you are wishing to cut the cover flush to the waterline, it is advised to cut the cover slightly longer than required to begin, allow 2-3 weeks to pass before you make the finish cut on the waterline, to allow for any shrinkage.

Important Tips:

* Ensure the cover remains still when you cut (it is impossible to cut a cover that is slowly shifting its position as you move around the pool.) A second person holding the cover in position is vital.

* Take off less than you think - The cover will not regenerate itself if you cut off too much.

* The bubbles run in straight lines. They can be used as a good guide for cutting in a straight line. They are also a good way of determining how much cover to remove.

* There are numerous videos online from a variety of sources that demostrate the installation of a pool cover process.
